Christmas Traditions

Dates: 1th - 2th December, 8th - 9th / 15th and 16th December

The Open-Air Museum is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and it is brought to life all day, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Pigs are slaughtered, ducks are plucked, Christmas cookies are baked and schnapps is distilled, among
many other activities, when the Open-Air Museum Hjerl Hede comes to life by young and old volunteers
in December.

Take a stroll through the Museum and peer into the cosy, warm workshops and houses and see the Christmas
preparations. On the hayloft the pixies are at play in the world of humans, crawling around on large furniture
and playing tricks. You may visit the pixies and experience first-hand what it is like to be a little pixie in the big world.

You can also take a ride with the steamtrain to the big sea "Flyndersø".
With the horsewagon you can get a nice view over the museum and hear about the buildings and life as
it was 100-200 years ago. Please ask for translation, because the trips are often only in danish.

The restaurant "Skyttegaarden" is open, serving, among other things, a Christmas buffet, coffee, glögg and
doughnut holes.

Before you go home, pay a visit to the shop of the Museum, here you can find a lot of historical things to
see and buy, and also something for the christmas-tree and gifts.
